FLUX Tools is a set of control workflows, not a single generic prompt box. The workbench starts with a real Canny model and separates edge control, depth control, fill or outpainting, and Redux reference variation. That mirrors the official Black Forest Labs product vocabulary while making the practical selection question explicit: which source signal should remain fixed, and what is the model allowed to reinvent?

Canny locks contour

Use Canny when silhouette, product outline, architecture, or graphic composition must survive. The edge map carries structure while the prompt changes surface, lighting, or visual genre.

The official FLUX Tools material separates structural and reference-guided model options. That distinction matters because a prompt alone cannot reliably preserve a floor plan, a package silhouette, or a masked region. A control image gives the generation a measurable constraint.

Depth locks space

Use Depth when foreground, subject distance, room volume, and camera geometry matter more than exact edges. It is suited to relighting, environment concepts, and material studies that should keep the same spatial read.

Choose Canny, Depth, Fill, or Redux in the model selector. The form updates to the selected model: Fill adds a brushable mask over the source image, while Canny, Depth, and Redux show the control image each model needs.

Fill changes a region

Choose Fill, upload the source, then brush directly over the area to replace. Ask for matched perspective, grain, illumination, and texture so the new content meets the untouched image cleanly.

Redux carries visual reference

Redux is useful for variations and visual reference influence. Assign the reference a role—palette, composition, material, or mood—so the model does not blend every attribute indiscriminately.

Pick and verify a FLUX control workflow

Start with what must not move. That answer identifies the tool faster than browsing example galleries.

  1. Name the invariant

    Write one sentence: keep the outline, keep the spatial depth, keep everything outside the mask, or carry only the visual mood. If the sentence contains two contracts, split the work into two passes.

  2. Prepare a clean signal

    Use readable edges, a depth source with clear planes, or paint a deliberate Fill region over the source image. Clean boundaries leave less room for the model to guess.

  3. Prompt the allowed change

    Describe only the material, environment, light, or object that may change. Repeating the invariant in the prompt gives the reviewer a direct comparison target.

  4. Inspect the seam and structure

    Overlay the source and output when precision matters. Check contours, occlusion, boundary texture, and unintended typography before choosing a visually exciting variant.

FLUX Tools is control, not decoration

For Canny, review edge adherence at major joints and corners rather than expecting every noisy line to survive. For Depth, compare foreground overlap, horizon, and camera height. For Fill, zoom into the boundary. For Redux, check that the assigned reference role transferred without copying protected text or an unwanted identity.

A good control workflow also plans failure. Thin Canny lines may disappear, poor depth maps can flatten glass, masks can leave halos, and a visually strong reference can overwhelm the written brief. Change one control at a time and retain the source, control map, prompt, and model label with the result.

Official documentation is the source of truth. This workbench keeps all four preservation contracts together while still sending each generation to the real selected model, so the user can move from tool selection to a verifiable output without losing the model context.

When the first image misses the target, trace the failure to its source: the control image carries structure, while the prompt controls appearance and scene details. Adjust only the side that failed, then rerun the same test.

Is FLUX Tools one model?

No. It is a family of task-specific FLUX control model options. The selected model and its visible schema determine the available input.

When should I use Canny instead of Depth?

Choose Canny for contour and layout; choose Depth for spatial relationships, volume, and camera geometry.

Can Fill outpaint an image?

Yes. Choose an outpaint direction to extend the canvas, or leave Outpaint set to None and brush over a specific area to replace it.

What does Redux preserve?

Redux carries reference influence. State whether the reference controls palette, composition, material, or mood rather than asking it to copy everything.

Why does the input form change?

Each real model has a different schema. Voor shows the selected model's inputs rather than hiding them behind a fake universal form.
