A tight crop is not a missing photo — it is a missing border. AI Uncrop treats the crop as ground truth and extrapolates outward from edge pixels: hair continues, jackets keep their fold pattern, skies pick up the same gradient. That is fundamentally different from text-to-image, which would invent a new face. AI Uncrop preserves identity because the center never leaves the canvas.
Outpainting models on Voor — Seedream and GPT Image Edit — read lighting direction from the last visible pixels. When your AI Uncrop source still shows shadow under the chin or highlight on the shoulder, the extended region inherits those cues. Upload the highest-resolution crop you have; AI Uncrop quality scales with edge texture, not center megapixels alone.
The three AI Uncrop presets map to common crop failures. Portrait extend adds headroom and shoulders for social and ID photos. Landscape widen restores horizon and foreground for travel and listing shots. Product pad creates ad safe zones without shrinking the packshot. Run one direction per pass when AI Uncrop drifts — extend top first, then sides.
AI Uncrop is not UV unwrapping. If the problem is a curved bottle label or angled poster, use Unwrap Image AI to flatten the surface. If the problem is a frame that cut off the subject, AI Uncrop is the right tool. Keeping those intents separate saves credits and produces cleaner handoffs to design software.
